More lens testing here. I picked up a 70-200mm lens recently. I prefer prime lenses (lenses that don’t zoom) due to how fast they are but having a telephoto lens at the 70-200mm length is handy for events plus I have my suspicions that pandemic measures will be something we have to deal with for another year or two so a lens that lets me sit back 20 or 40 feet and still get the shot I see could be handy to have on hand. At least, that is my thinking but if I am wrong it is still very useful for events, especially weddings.
Anyway, lots of wildlife here and nature shots as I break it in. As long as you stay back, a goose isn’t going to care if you take a bunch of photos of it as you figure out all the new features of whatever lens you are using. Though it bears repeating that if you are photographing wildlife be careful. Wild animals operate by their own rules and they don’t care if you are a “nice person,” they will still flip that switch and attack you if you they opt for the fight part of flight or fight. Even with smaller animals, as I took these photos, I kept thinking to myself that I don’t want to be the guy who has the “yeah, I managed to get into a fight with a goose” story. I am sure I’d win but that’s kind of like picking a fight a with a toddler.
For these photos, no special light - just the morning sun and a whole lot of geese. Not the most glamorous of subjects but the most available where I live that could help me accomplish what I needed to accomplish.
